ED affects approximately 30 million men in the U.S. And despite what you might have thought previously, it isn’t just an issue affecting “older” males. Some estimates say that 8% of males 20-29 and 11% of males 30-39are impacted by ED. But from our experience, we believe those statistics are actually quite low, and the number of men in these age groups that struggle with elements of ED is actually quite a bit higher.

Yes, the chance of ED increases as we age, but many men face erectile challenges well before they expect to—and certainly before they want to.

Why? There are a number of factors that affect sexual health and the ability to both get and maintain an acceptable erection. These include certain medications, neurological and psychological components, low desire and libido associated with testosterone deficiency, and the big one, blood flow.

Over time, blood flow to the penis decreases, sensitivity isn’t as strong, micro-plaque builds up and blood vessels become thinner. These changes can make it difficult to get and/or maintain the kind of erection most men desire. While there are ED meds that can be of help, they don’t address the cause of the issue, and these medications often come with undesirable side effects, as well.

So, that’s the bad news.

Thankfully, we have good news, too. There is help available that addresses the root cause of many penile issues.

The first step is testing for Low-T. Nothing is going to work optimally unless testosterone is at optimal levels. Next, we complete a detailed history to look for other factors—like medications, metabolic conditions (e.g. diabetes) or neurological components that may be triggering ED. And then, of course, we go after the big culprit: insufficient blood flow. We often use a combination of treatments to achieve high levels of success, and first on the blood flow enhancement list is GAINSWave.

Through the use of the pain-free, non-invasive GAINSWave therapy, we use high frequency low-intensity shockwaves to rejuvenate the area, remove micro-plaque, increase blood flow and ultimately help new, stronger blood vessels develop—resulting in harder, more sustainable erections.
