Every woman’s journey through hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is unique and we believe that women should have the freedom to choose the HRT method that aligns with their preferences and lifestyle. That’s why we proudly offer a range of options, including individually customized balancing and pellets, to cater to individual needs.
The Power of Choice
Hormone replacement therapy is a remarkable tool to help women regain control of their lives when facing hormonal imbalances, offering:
- Improved Quality of Life: HRT can alleviate common symptoms of hormonal imbalances, such as hot flashes, mood swings, fatigue and low libido, significantly enhancing a woman’s overall wellbeing.
- Bone Health: Maintaining optimal hormone levels can help preserve bone density, reducing the risk of osteoporosis and fractures.
- Heart Health: Hormones play a vital role in cardiovascular health, and HRT can help improve heart health by maintaining proper lipid profiles and reducing the risk of coronary artery disease.
- Cognitive Function: Hormonal balance is essential for brain health. HRT can support cognitive function, including memory and mental clarity.
But what are the different approaches to HRT and what method is best?
Individually Customized Balancing (ICB) is a popular choice among women seeking more fine control over their hormone levels. Here are some of the key benefits of ICB:
- Precise Hormone Delivery: Individually customized balancing allows for accurate and precise hormone delivery, ensuring that women receive the exact amounts of hormones their individual body needs for their wellbeing.
- Customized Plans: ICB enables healthcare providers to create customized treatment plans, addressing specific hormone imbalances and individual needs effectively.
- Convenient Administration: Women can conveniently administer injections according to their preferred schedule, offering flexibility and ease of use in their hormone optimization journey. The convenience of administering hormones in this fashion on a preferred schedule further enhances the flexibility and ease of the hormone optimization.
- Easily changeable dosing: Hormones are often influenced by several factors including changes in weight, new medications for other conditions, etc. Unlike pellets, this method allows for a “change on a dime” dosing when the balance isn’t perfect or as women’s levels naturally shift as part of their treatment.
HRT pellets, on the other hand, offer unique advantages for women looking for long-lasting hormone balance. This is another very popular HRT treatment method. Here are the most significant pros and cons:
- Steady Release: For most women, pellets provide a steady and consistent release of hormones over a prolonged period of time.
- Convenience: Once inserted, pellets can last for several months (typically four months), eliminating the need for frequent administration
- Low Maintenance: Women can enjoy the convenience of “set it and forget it” hormone therapy, as pellets require minimal attention after insertion. Pellets generally consist of estrogen and testosterone, other key hormones including progesterone and DHEA must still be taken daily.
- Inability to change dose: The one disadvantage is that once the pellets are inserted, they cannot be removed until they are absorbed. Pellets progressively degrade over time, and for some women, symptoms of menopause can reoccur before the repeated pellet insertion
- Requires a minor surgical procedure: Pellet insertion is a minor surgical procedure that takes place about once every four months. First, a numbing agent is injected into the hip, then a small incision is made in the skin and the pellets are carefully inserted into the body.
The Importance of Choice
The decision between individually customized balancing and pellets ultimately comes down to individual preferences, lifestyles and medical needs. Some women may prefer the precision and control of injections, while others may appreciate the convenience and consistency of pellets.
