As our medical director always says, one of the best ways to ensure your long-term health is to choose your parents well.
That’s because your genes tell a story. And at the Age Management Center, our advanced genetic testing helps you understand that story on a deeper, biological level so you can identify inherited risk factors, strengths and predispositions.
As many as 1 in 7 healthy adults carries a serious health-related genetic risk. By testing more than 163 different genes, this information can help guide measures to support your health (and the health of your family members) and potentially prevent conditions.
So while we can’t choose our parents, we can choose to be proactive about our health by understanding what’s hiding beneath the surface.
Why Genetic Testing Matters for Longevity
Traditional medicine often focuses on treating disease after it occurs. Longevity medicine takes a different approach, rooted in prevention, optimization and early insight. By analyzing key genetic markers, we can uncover how your body processes nutrients, detoxifies, repairs DNA, responds to inflammation, metabolizes hormones, and more.
Genetic testing provides insights that can help you and your doctor or provider take steps focused on your health and disease prevention.
This testing is designed for healthy patients who can benefit from knowing their genetic risks or want general genetic insights to help inform their health. The panels determine whether you are at an increased risk of developing more than 45 inherited conditions, including a wide range of:
- Cancer: Such as breast, colorectal, ovarian, pancreatic, prostate and thyroid cancers.
- Cardiovascular conditions (related to your heart, blood, and circulation): Such as cardiomyopathies, arrhythmias, aortopathies and genetic forms of high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
These insights allow for:
- Identifying predispositions to cardiovascular, cognitive, or metabolic decline
- Developing strategies to optimize metabolic function and prevent chronic disease
- Personalized recommendations about nutrition, exercise and supplements
- Supporting precision hormone balancing and healthy aging at the cellular level
Understanding your genetic blueprint gives you the knowledge to make smarter, proactive choices for your long-term health with the goal to extend not just lifespan, but healthspan.
What to Expect with Genetic Testing
Our comprehensive genetic testing evaluates hundreds of markers associated with key biological processes and the systems involved in aging, wellness and disease risk. After your sample is collected, results are analyzed through advanced bioinformatics and reviewed by our provider team.
You’ll receive a detailed report outlining your unique genetic tendencies and what they mean for:
- Cardiometabolic health: cholesterol, blood pressure, insulin sensitivity
- Detoxification and oxidative stress: your body’s ability to neutralize free radicals and toxins (which plays a major role in slowing cellular aging and maintaining optimal health)
- Nutrient absorption and metabolism: how efficiently you use vitamins, minerals and macronutrients
- Hormone balance and receptor sensitivity (a major factor in energy, mood, metabolism and sexual health)
- Cognitive and mental wellbeing
- Exercise recovery, inflammation and tissue repair
During your consultation, your provider will interpret your results in the context of your current health, labs, and lifestyle — helping you take actionable steps toward optimizing wellness and longevity.
FAQ
Is genetic testing only for people with health problems?
Not at all. Genetic testing is a proactive tool for anyone interested in understanding their body better, reducing risk of disease, and optimizing long-term wellness before symptoms arise.
Is the testing confidential?
Yes. Your genetic information is handled securely and confidentially. Only you and your providers have access to your results.
How does the genetic testing process work?
- Step 1: Consultation
- Talk to one of our providers to find out if genetic testing is right for you. We can also give you more information and resources.
- Step 2: Sample Collection
- Provide a blood or saliva sample.
- Step 3: Review and Next Steps
- Review your results with your provider and decide on potential next steps based on your unique needs.
What happens after I receive my results?
Your provider will review your report and integrate your findings into a personalized wellness and longevity plan. This may include dietary recommendations, lifestyle modifications, or further diagnostic testing to deepen insights.
Will my results tell me if I’ll get a disease?
Genetic testing does not predict with certainty whether you will develop a specific condition. Instead, it identifies predispositions, or areas where lifestyle changes, nutrition, and medical support can make a measurable difference.
What does a positive test result mean?
This testing can help you understand if you have an increased risk of a condition; it will not tell you for sure if you will have a condition. If you receive a positive test result, it means your test showed a genetic change that may increase your risk of developing a medical condition, and you can work with your doctor to take steps to help manage or reduce your risk
What does a negative result mean?
A negative result means you may not have an increased genetic risk for the conditions tested on this panel (based on current scientific knowledge). However, proactive medical care and a healthy lifestyle are essential to your overall well-being and longevity even with a negative genetic test result
