At AMC, all of our patients are familiar with our caring and knowledgeable doctors, Michael Bedecs, D.O. and Masina Wright ND. However, behind the scenes making sure all the appointments are made, Michael and Masina are ready to go, and patients get their prescriptions are some amazing ladies. One of these magic makers is Mary Nablo, our Patient Coordinator. You may recognize her as the friendly voice on the phone, but to us she is our Momma Bear and planner extraordinaire! Before joining our team as an employee, Mary started her AMC journey as a patient. We sat down with her to learn more about why she came to AMC, and what she loves about working here.
How did you find AMC?
I first came in as a patient seeking treatment. When I lived in Philadelphia, I ran an HRT practice for a doctor. I was not feeling the best at the time, and my previous boss happened to come and visit me in Maine. He found Dr. Bedecs and Age Management Center of New England and suggested that I make an appointment with him. Turns out, I liked AMC’s business model and the idea that patients come first. It turned into my job. I’ve been here for 2 years and couldn’t be happier!
What do you love most about working at Age Management Center of New England?
The part I love most about my job is Dr. Bedecs’ hands-on approach to working with each one of AMC’s patients. Every patient is treated as an individual and every situation is unique – there is no “cookie cutter” patient. It makes each day different and exciting.
I also love the family atmosphere at AMC and our group of practices. It’s rare that you find an employer in this day and age that really puts family first. The comradery at our practices makes this a great place to work!
What is your favorite part about working with AMC patients?
Every patient comes into our office wanting to feel better, and I love that we are able to help patients achieve their goal. Unlike conventional doctors, we do not treat symptoms – we treat underlying causes. Dr. Bedecs and our team at AMC determine the root of the cause and fix it through a combination of functional medicine and bHRT, or bio-identical hormone replacement therapy.
Our mantra, “live as well as you can for as long as you can,” is practiced every day, with every patient at our office.
How was AMC helped you personally?
I feel lucky to see what AMC does on a daily basis and fortunate enough to have the resources to make a lifestyle change. You reach a certain age where you no longer make yourself a top priority, and always put others first. To keep my body running efficiently, I realized I needed to step back and take care of myself physically and mentally. Once I realized that, it changed how I felt and looked! With the help of Dr. Bedecs and bHRT, I feel better than I have in my entire life. Before treatment I would’ve considered myself as genetically challenged; I was pre-diabetic, had high cholesterol and hypothyroidism. Luckily, these metabolic issues are what we specialize in at AMC. I have lowered my cholesterol, corrected bioidentical hormones for thyroid, and I’m now off diabetes medication.
If you struggle with similar issues as Mary – you are not alone! Hormone imbalances are common, but can be detrimental to daily life if they are not properly treated.
