Woman feet with yellow measuring tape attempting to use to the bathroom scaleWhen you’re sitting at work, or at the grocery store, or in the park, look to your left, then look to your right. Chances are, at least one of you is trying to lose weight. In North America alone, around 44% of people are actively looking to shed pounds.

The global weight loss/weight management market is expected to exceed $405.4 billion by 2030 – because wanting to lose weight is incredibly common among both men and women.

Over the last few years we have all seen the incredible rise of semaglutide GLP-1 inhibitors for weight loss, with everyone from Elon Musk to Hollywood stars to your nextdoor neighbor losing significant weight thanks to brand name medications like Ozempic and Wegovy. Because people are always looking for fast, effective weight loss solutions—and these really do work.

We’ve been providing semaglutide injections for weight loss, among other medical weight loss solutions, to both men and women for years, with remarkable results. But we’ve also seen some troubling trends. If you’re considering a medical weight loss program, here’s what we suggest you be on the lookout for:

  • Providers that promise overnight results. With semaglutide weight loss injections results are indeed fast, with some dropping substantial pounds in a matter of weeks, but you won’t transform from one day to the next. Don’t get sold on overnight results. Real, healthy weight loss will take a little bit time.
  • Providers that promise lasting results. When using semaglutide weight loss injections, long term results are absolutely possible, and our clients are effectively maintaining their new physiques. But that’s because the programs we offer include a comprehensive look at your health and wellness, and include counsel and support on the right diet and exercise to help you maintain your new weight. You probably won’t have lasting results if your provider delivers the injection and leaves you on your own to do the rest.
  • Providers that prescribe semaglutide without a proper exam and lab tests. Semaglutide is a medication, that’s why at our practice you must medically qualify before we will provide a prescription. This is for your safety. At the Age Management Center of New England, we want to ensure that this is indeed the right approach for you as an individual so that you achieve the results you’re after, but also we want to make sure there aren’t any contraindications in your background that conflict with its usage.
  • Providers that don’t consider other factors of your health. Suboptimal hormones can be detrimental to your weight loss efforts. The effects of testosterone deficiency in overweight men, for example, has shown “paramount clinical significance” with testosterone therapy helping produce “sustained weight loss without recidivism”*. Once you’ve lost weight, the last thing you want to do is slide back into your old jeans! In other words, weight loss can’t be considered in a silo. It must be a well-rounded, well-informed approach.

Weight loss can’t be a one-size-fits-all approach. Our goal is to help men and women love the way they look – and the way they feel. As medical providers, we want every individual to understand their options and the best solutions for them as individuals.

If you’re looking to lose weight and want to learn more about the options available to you, contact us today to schedule a free screening with one of our expert providers. There’s no commitment, just a conversation so you can weigh your options and make the best choice for your health.
